Team Parent Meeting Notes

2024/25 Vacaville High School Cross-Country and Distance Track Group

Mission: To serve the student-athletes at Vacaville HS in a manner that inspires Growth, Enjoyment, and Achievement through participation in Athletics. To use Cross-Country as a vehicle to further develop and support the school-wide Goals and Vision of Vacaville HS. “No one cares how much you know until they know how much you care!”

Vision: VHS Cross-Country will promote and foster a Championship Culture centered around the pursuit of excellence in all we do. There will be an emphasis on building respectful relationships, positive attitudes, and giving outstanding effort. Student/Athletes will practice goal setting, demonstrate personal responsibility, and accountability to Team.  Through the use of a variety of Individualization methods, a process-oriented approach, and an emphasis on personal improvement, training and competition will be viewed as an exciting opportunity to display the skills that have been developed through a well planned and highly structured system.

“Imagine creating a highly productive, passionate, purposeful, positive, and people-centered culture where your athletes and coaching staff…

- consistently work hard every day because they want to not because they have to

- are fully engaged and committed to your team’s mission and goals

- take immense pride in representing your team

- compete passionately for each other and not just themselves

- take full responsibility for getting the job done

- hold themselves and each other accountable to high standards

- don’t give or tolerate lame excuses for why people didn’t perform or produce...Own Their Results!

  • Cross Country is a competitive athletic team at Vacaville High School with an excellent tradition that we are excited to contribute towards in 2024. By choosing to participate, students are making a commitment of their time that requires discipline, motivation, teamwork, and a strong work ethic. Students are acknowledging that they can manage their academic responsibilities and other personal obligations while honoring the expectations and requirements of being on the cross country team. By choosing to participate in cross country an athlete may have to forego other activities that conflict with practice and competition. There are no tryouts based on running performance, however students will not be able to participate if they cannot meet the practice attendance expectations described above.
